To Request a Copy of Your OBU Transcript

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, Oklahoma Baptist University issues transcripts only on the written request of the individual to whom the record belongs.

To request a transcript in person, bring a photo ID; to request a transcript by mail or fax, include signature:

TELEPHONE OR E-MAIL REQUESTS: Transcript requests via telephone or e-mail cannot be accepted because of the original signature requirement of the above referenced act.

INFORMATION NEEDED: In order to be certain that we have the correct record, the following information should be included in the written and signed letter of request, whether it is mailed or faxed to the University: 1) full name, 2) dates of attendance, 3) date of birth, 4) OBU ID number or Social Security Number and 5) STUDENT'S SIGNATURE.

FEES: There is no fee for the issuance of official transcripts. Students requesting special handling (FedEx, Express Mail, international fax, etc.) will be billed for the exact cost of the additional service.

MAXIMUM ISSUED AT ONE TIME: A maximum of five official transcripts ISSUED TO THE STUDENT may be ordered at one time. If the transcripts are to be mailed BY THE ACADEMIC CENTER to other specified addresses (schools, employers, foundations, etc.) there is no limit to the number which may be ordered at one time. The reason for the limit on those issued to the student is the limited validity time for official transcripts; stockpiling for future use is a waste of resources since, for most uses, they will not be of use ten (10) days after issue.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT?
The normal turn-around time from the actual receipt of the request (either in person or through the mail) is one work day. At the end of the Spring semester, there may be a delay of two or three days due to the enormous volume of requests at that time.

FAX: Requests received by FAX will be accepted as proper authorization to release a transcript if the FAXed request bears the original signature of the student. Computer generated faxes cannot be accepted since the signature is digitized rather than original and therefore not legally binding.

The University assumes no liability for information sent via FAX since it is an unsecured medium. Students may seek redress through the Federal Wire Fraud Act if the transmission is intercepted or file charges of theft if the actual paper copies are stolen. FAXED TRANSCRIPTS ARE NOT OFFICIAL!

TRANSCRIPTS ISSUED TO STUDENT: Official transcripts mailed to or given to the student or their agent (family, friend, etc.) will bear the words "Issued to Student" and may therefore be unacceptable to institutions which require that all transcripts be mailed directly from institution to institution.

UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS: Unofficial, uncertified student copies of the academic record may be obtained by the student, usually on a walk-in basis. There is no fee for this service but no more than five copies may be issued at one time.

IDENTIFICATION/AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED: A PHOTO-ID, such as a University ID card or driver's license, is required for all in-person transactions pertaining to academic records. This includes picking up transcripts ordered earlier. A valid signature of the student is required of all requests received by third-party delivery (mail, FAX, messenger, friend, family member, etc.). If the third party is to also receive the transcript, that information must be specified in the request and the third party must provide photo identification. All such transcripts will be stamped "Issued to Student."
