Circulation policies are those of the main library and do not reflect the circulation policies of the Media Center, the Curriculum Library, Montgomery Hall, the OK-Share program, or the OBU Archives.
Circulating items may be borrowed at the Circulation Desk by presenting a current university ID card or a Mabee Learning Center Patron's Card. OK-Share courtesy cards are available at the front desk with presentation of a current OK-Share card from a participating academic library where the patron is a student, staff or faculty member. The user is responsible for all materials borrowed using his or her card and for all fines or bills incurred.
The following items are considered valid cards at the Mabee Learning Center:
A Mabee Learning Center Patron's Card is available to all in state residents over the age of 18. Applicants are required to present current photographic ID, proof of age, proof of residence, sign a Patron's Agreement and pay an annual fee of $75.00 before borrowing privileges are extended to them. The amount of the annual fee is subject to change without notice. Users who fail to abide by the terms of their Patron's Agreement are subject to immediate loss of privileges (without refund). The Mabee Learning Center may also refuse to renew the borrowing privileges of habitually delinquent users.
Users are allowed to borrow only circulating items from the general collection.
Reference materials, periodicals, CD-ROMs, Baptist Resource Center materials
and items from the Mabee Learning Center's special collections do not circulate.
Users holding a Mabee Learning Center Courtesy or Patron's Card are limited
to four simultaneous checkouts.
Books in the general collection can be borrowed for a period of 2 weeks.
This period will change as the end of each semester approaches. All materials
are subject to return on or before the expiration date of the user's library
privileges.
Materials may be renewed two times if they are not in demand by another student,
faculty or staff member. All renewals are subject to Circulation holds. Materials
may be renewed in the library, by phone (call the Circulation desk at 878-2251),
and online through the library catalog at http://obu-mlc.okbu.edu/uhtbin/webcat
.
The fine rate on materials from the general collection is $.15 per day per
item. Reserve materials carry a fine rate of $6.00 per day per item. Special
Loans have a fine rate of $.50 per day per item. All fines begin to accrue as
soon as the materials become overdue. All Mabee Learning Center users are subject
to overdue fines.
Notices will be sent for bills. Mabee Learning Center users are, however, responsible for payment of all Mabee Learning Center bills whether or not a bill notice has been received. Failure to pay Mabee Learning Center bills can result in transcript and graduation holds as well as the revocation of user privileges.
Materials more than 30 days overdue or unreturned at the end of the current
semester will be declared lost and billed to the user. The fee schedule for
a lost item is:
Users with bills in excess of $5.00 will be blocked from borrowing or renewing
materials until they have paid their bills. Users with excessively overdue
materials will be blocked from borrowing or renewing materials until the
overdue materials have been returned and all bills have been paid.
