The media purchase recommendations placed by the various professors are ordered
subject to approval by the division or department chair/allocation officer and
"liaison librarian" of that subject area. Up to one third of the total library
allocation may be spent on media materials. This is to assure the continued
use and updating of the print collection for research and teaching. It is also
necessary since media titles tend to go-out-date faster or equipment needed
to view/listen to such materials becomes unavailable. Since the Mabee Learning
Center wishes to give you greater cost benefits that extend your purchasing
power, all purchasing of media materials has been "outsourced" to a wholesale
jobber that provides the MLC a discount on most titles.
Only currently available media titles will be ordered as no reputable system
exists for the purchase of used or out-of-print media titles. A subject index
to currently available media titles and information to complete this request
form may usually be obtained by using media reference materials available in
the MLC Media Center or Listening Center. Please contact Mr. Cliff Lehmann for
video information and Mrs. Cindy Hicks for recordings information.
Since special individual producer's offers and sample or "on approval" transfer
materials generally cost much more than media titles ordered through the jobber,
the MLC will not honor such recommendations unless there is a compelling reason
for that specific recommendation. Please return sample or on-approval materials
and order the same title through this media recommendation request form.
