Certification in Orality Studies

In the realm of higher education, we take books and literacy for granted. Our perception is that there is a literate world all around us. Not so.

Sixty percent of the population of the world is made up of oral learners -- those who prefer or depend upon oral means of receiving and transmitting information. Almost half of this group is totally illiterate, with most having no form of written language. Over the past century, almost all missionary methods have been based on some form of literacy.

Through orality studies, you will be trained to take the gospel in its oral form to those who have no other way of receiving it.

It is our goal that by Fall, 2006, OBU will have the first certified undergraduate program in Orality studies within a missiological context. It's about time somebody did.
